International Center for Positive Psychotherapy
(ICPP)
The International Center for Positive Psychotherapy, Transcultural Family Therapy
and Psychosomatic Medicine (ICPP) Inc., is the umbrella organization and coordinating
headquarters for all centers of Positive Psychotherapy world-wide. It fulfills,
at present, the main tasks of an international association for Positive Psychotherapy
and represents the interests of Positive Psychotherapy on the international
level.
The ICPP was founded in 1991 in Wiesbaden,
Germany, and was officially registered as a non-profit organization
in 1996 (Amtsgericht Wiesbaden-Vereinsregister Nr 1, 20.11.1996).
The ICPP has evolved from the German Association of Positive Psychotherapy
(Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Positive Psychotherapy e.V., DGPP) which was founded
in 1978 as the first national association of Positive Psychotherapy. Membership
of the ICPP is open to health professionals either working in the field or
interested in Positive Psychotherapy.
The main objective of the ICPP is to promote the physical, mental, social and
spiritual health of individuals, families and groups.
Other important objectives of the ICPP are:
the promotion of the theory, method and practice of Positive Psychotherapy
and its application under the transcultural and interdisciplinary point of
view.
the promotion of the consciousness that "man is a mine rich in gems of
inestimable value"
the promotion of mutual understanding and tolerance between different cultures
the development of programs in the field of prevention and rehabilitation regarding
families and its members.
the promotion of training of graduate and postgraduate specialists
The ICPP is actively engaged in the training of postgraduate professionals
in psychotherapy, family therapy and counseling in a number of different countries.
In addition, the ICPP organizes workshops,
lectures, conventions and seminars pertaining to the different
aspects of Positive Psychotherapy and Family Therapy as well
as transcultural exchanges of theories, techniques and research.
The ICPP offers a number of courses related
to marriage and marriage preparation, family life, parenting,
education of children, conflict education and counseling. The
ICPP also has extensive experience in applying these methods
in the field of management, personnel and business fields, especially
in Germany.
